Expression profiling of nasal polyp epithelial cells identifies two distinct phenotypes and suggests a role for neurogenic inflammation

چکیده
Method Primary epithelial cells were isolated from nasal polyps of 24 affected individuals and from the middle turbinates of 9 healthy controls. After a limited culture period RNA was extracted and the expression profile determined using Human Genome U133 Plus 2.0 Genechip Array (Affymetrix inc., Santa Clara, CA, USA). Supernatants collected from the epithelial cells and immunohistochemistry on biopsies were used for validation.

Expression of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor in Nasal Polyp and Chronic Rhinosinusitis
Background: Nasal inflammatory disorders such as chronic rhinosinusitis and nasal polyp are among the most prevalent complications with high socioeconomic costs. Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) plays a key role in angiogenesis and cell proliferation. In the present study the effect of VEGF on the development and prognosis of chronic rhinosinusitis and nasal p...
متن کاملComparison of Expression of Cytokeratin 7 on Epithelium of Nasal Polyps and Mucosa of Chronic Rhinosinusitis
Background and Objective: Nasal polyp is the most common benign mass of the nasal cavity and it is originated from nasal cavity or sinuses. Cytokeratins (CK) are intermediate filament proteins that provide mechanical support in epithelial cells. The purpose of this study was to compare the expression of cytokeratin 7 in epithelium of nasal polyps and nasal mucosa in chronic rhinosinusitis. Mate...
متن کاملRole of IgE Low-Affinity Receptor (CD23) in Pathogenesis of Nasal Polyp
Background: Nasal polyps, a common clinical problem, are characterized by eosinophilic and mast cell inflammation. The role of allergy and IgE in pathogenesis of nasal polyps is still unclear. IgE receptors are important components of the immunological pathway in allergic and inflammatory diseases. Objective: To determine if the low affinity IgE receptor (CD23) is presented on nasal polyp tis...

متن کاملConstitutive nuclear factor-kappaB activity in human upper airway tissues and nasal epithelial cells.
Respiratory epithelial cells are actively involved in the host defence and inflammatory reactions of the airways. Nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-kappaB) is a transcription factor that plays a pivotal role in many cellular responses to environmental changes. The inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) isoform has been implicated in airway inflammation as well as in normal airway function. In this stud...
